Spring Break Pictures and an Announcement!

First time in the swing! This is so fun!

Well, I better make the announcement first. This is probably not news to most of you, but we are expecting another baby! Haven is going to be a big sister sometime at the end of September! We are very excited and trusting God and His timing! Everything has gone very well so far. I have had 2 ultrasounds and everything looks great. We will hopefully be finding out what "it" is by sometime in May!

We have enjoyed some gorgeous summer weather. I just had to take advantage of it and be outside as much as possible! Chris and Justin were here for Spring Break and we had a GREAT time! It went too fast! Heston and Kelli also came for a couple of days, Sara and JD came down last weekend, and Van and Loretta and the boys dropped by on Saturday. So, we had a busy and very fun week spending time with everyone! This week we are getting back to normal with the weather and not as many people around! I have been cleaning house mostly. Good ole spring cleaning. I'm hoping to be past the yucky, sleepy stage of pregnancy soon, but so far it's hanging on! It hasn't been too bad, though. God is so good and the youth ministry is going very well. We are going to be meeting in an old school on Wednesday nights starting this next Wed. because we are busting out of our little room at church! Most weeks there are about 100! We are looking forward to a very full and exciting spring and summer with graduations, camp, and a missions trip to name a few. There are many challenges, but God is so faithful to remind us to depend completely on Him for everything we need! I just love this time of year as Easter is drawing close! I am reminded of His incredible love for us and hatred for sin and the answer in sacrificing His Only Son on the cross. I am reading the book of John and it is just incredible to me to see Christ's complete obedience to His Father and how He deflected any glory back to Him. It's challenging to remember that we are commanded to do the same!

Happy Baby and Huge Mess!

Haven's Birthday was Monday, the 19th. We had a little party for her on Saturday. We invited some friends with small children and had a great time! Haven loved her cake! She ate a huge piece! It was hysterical! And then she went to bed with no problems! Yea! We had a great time and we are so thankful for Haven! She is a blessing from the Lord and she brings so much joy and entertainment to our lives!

Long Over-due Update

Well, this update is so late because we have been sick. Two weeks ago Haven and I both got sick with a nasty cold. Haven was feeling better after a few days but it took a little long for me. Then Steve came down with it last weekend. Now we are all on the mend, praise the Lord, and ready for Spring! Bring on the warm weather, please! We had our annual Parent Appreciation Banquet last Friday night and it went wonderfully. It was a jungle theme and some of the teen guys did a drama about Jim Elliot and the men who lost their lives to the Auca Indians. This week Steve was out of town from Tuesday till today at a Youth Conference at the Wilds camp in North Carolina. I missed him a ton! and so did Haven, but we kept pretty busy, doing things with people very day. It was good to keep busy and have an oopportunity to fellowship with people.
Now we are so glad daddy is home! Next weekend we are looking forward to Haven's Birthday party on Saturday as well as some friends and family coming to visit! She turns 1 on the 19th! I don't know where the year went, but it has been awesome and she is a joy! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to enjoy some warmer weather!

11 months old today!

Haven just loves her cousins! She had a great time when they came to babysit her with Aunt Loretta and Uncle Van this weekend! In fact, she had such a great time that she barely slept, so she made up for it today, but sleeping four hours in two naps and going to bed at 7:15. She's so cute, though, my sweetie-pie!

Well, my brain is a little fried right now because I just tried to post this post and then the internet shut off, so I'm doing it all over again, so forgive me for being a little shorter than I would have been! This month has been crazy busy for us with something going every weekend and a lot of weekdays, but God has been so good and so faithful! He has given grace and strength for every situation, and provided in incredible ways! This past weekend Steve and I went on Brookside's annual couple's retreat and got to hear Pastor Tim Jordan speak. It was incredible and and God did some great work in my life, for sure, and Steve's, too. It was hard to hear the truth of how selfish we are in marriage, but it was needed, and God used His Word to penetrate my heart. I am so thankful!

Early Feb update

My cutie pa-tooty!

This past week we went up to Northland! We got up there Tuesday and stayed till Thursday afternoon for Heart Conference. It was great to be able to see so many friends and of course family. I'm shooting myself that I didn't take more pictures when I was there, but we will be back this weekend for Snow Camp so I'm planning on taking more pix then. Friday night I had a bunch of Junior and Senior girls over and we had a great time playing games, eating pizza and just hanging out. Lots of fun!
We have been having sub-zero weather here. Yesterday morning I got in the car to go to church and the temperature gauge said -8 degrees. Freezing! Today it is about the same, but tomorrow it is supposed to warm up to 14! Yea! It hasn't been this cold in 10 years! We are keeping warm inside and warming up the car before we go anywhere!
Well, Haven is pulling up to things like crazy now. She's on the move. We have also started the process of weaning! She took a bottle of whole milk from Steve yesterday no problem, and then from me today! SO I am so excited! I didn't think it would be this easy! This month is pretty crazy busy for us, but hopefully things will slow down more in March. God is definitely using this to keep us totally dependent on Him and to trust Him with everything! He is so good and His timing is best!

A tooth - finally!

All bundled up!

Haven finally has a tooth! I was beginning to think she was never going to get any and I put my finger in her mouth on Wednesday, and there it was! She was so cranky on Monday I didn't know what was wrong with her- that explains it! I've been giving her baby motrin/ibuprofen and that's been helping. She's been a pretty good girl now. Yea! I'm just so excited for her! 10 months and she has her first tooth- I've heard of some children not getting them till they were two, so I am thanful!

This week we had revival services with Evangelist Mark Kitrell at Brookside. They were amazing and God did a work in many lives, including my own. He really convicted me of my lack of love for the lost and gave me a renewed desire and hunger to see them saved. I pray he will use me with my unsaved neighbors, the people I see at the Y, and just the people I come in contact with everyday who don't know Him! I'm so thankful that He loves us even though we fail Him so often and He is patient with us and loves to see us confess sin and make things right with Him! He is so faithful, and the fact that He hasn't come back yet means there is still time for people to be saved! He is patiently waiting for as many as will come to him! He is so unlike us! So, we need to take the opportunity to share Christ with those we come in contact with on a daily basis. He wants to use us and He will despite our weaknesses and failures! He is a great God!

I also enjoyed some fellowship with some moms from our church this week, Amy, Sarah, Cassie, and Tami. It was a great time talking and letting the babies play. We're hoping to start a mom's group that can get together for fellowship and encouragement on a regular basis.

Next week we make our way up to Northland for Heart conference! I am so excited to see so many friends and family up there! It will be a great time! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Trip to PA

Haven with Grandma Sauers! Awe!
We had a great time in Pennsylvania this past week! It was great to be able to see all the family and catch up where we left off! Of course Haven was the center of attention and she was loving it! It went so fast and now we are back in Milwaukee jumping in with both feet again!
God is so good. He provided so many things for us while we were in PA, one of which was luggage from Steve's parents. They probably don't even know what a blessing it was, but my suitcase was about to bite the dust so they're new "used" luggage is greatly appreciated! God also provided in small ways with clothes for Haven from a girl at Steve's dad's job and toys for her for Christmas. He also gave us safety on the flights which was a huge blessing! Haven was good on the first flight and screamed like crazy on the way back. She probably just didn't want to leave her Grandpa's and Grandma's, Aunts and Uncles! :) Actually, she was really tired and just kept fighting sleep! She tried a lot of new foods in PA - ice cream, pizza crust, mashed carrots, and loved it! She is crawling like crazy and trying to pull up on anything she can find! She is a real joy, even though it is a lot of work!
Today we are getting a new water heater installed by a man in our church. This is another huge blessing! We have been taking our showers at the Y for about a week and a half! It's a good way to get us to work out though! :) Steve will watch Haven for me when I go to a baby shower tonight and we have a busy week ahead of us with dinner engagements and then a Parents Open House on Saturday! We're also looking forward to Chris, Justin, and Tommy Ardt stopping in to see us hopefully on Friday on their way back to Northland! Next week is our Revival Week Sun.- Wed. at Brookside so please pray that God will do a great work in our hearts and the hearts of our church people! He has already been at work in my life as Pastor Sam preached a challenging message on Sunday night and I realized I had not been being honest with God about sin! It's so true, we talk to God about our respectable sins, but the real ugly stuff we gloss over and act like it's alright! So, I am so thankful for His working in my life, and I pray He will continue this work as He said He would!

We had to wait so long for the Doctor that I decided to take some pictures of her playing with the tissues- I was trying everything to keep her busy!

Ok, I know it's been so long since the last post. Sorry about that. Our internet has been down for a few days and it's been pretty busy! We had a wonderful Christmas and we're able to enjoy some quiet time over the holidays. They came and went so fast! It's been easy because the weather has been gorgeous, like in the 50's! I can't believe it! Is this Wisconsin?
We had an activity with the whole church at the YMCA on New Year's Eve. It was a great time for us to get to know some more families and teens and just enjoy fellowship with them. Then New Year's Day we had a Football day at our youth sponsor's, the Amack's. It was a great time- especially for the boys. The girls made their own fun!
Now we are looking forward to going home for a week to PA. Praise the Lord, He provided the money and we are flying out Sunday afternoon and we'll spend time with both sets of parents. They all can't wait to see us, but we know it's Haven they really can't wait to see.
Hmmm, what else is new here? Oh yeah, our hot water heater is not working, so we've been taking showers at the Y after we work out. It's a great way to get us to work out, and hopefully soon we will have a new hot water heater - or the old one will be fixed!
And one other thing, Haven is crawling all over the place! It's great and bad at the same time. She loves being mobile, but now we have to watch out for her so much more! She is a cutie, though and a joy!

Christmas Banquet and Guests

Last Saturday we had our Senior High Christmas banquet. It was a lot of fun to prepare for and then be able to go to! We got a babysitter for Haven and she had a great old time! This is what we did. All the teens came, some with dates, some not, and we had hors' d oeuvres (sp? it's always fun to spell this one) in the lobby, then they took a horse and carriage down to the fellowship hall downstairs which we had all decorated fancy with candlelight and Christmacy decor! We had a scrumptous dinner and then watched a video that Steve and Nic, the intern, put together. It was hilarious! The teens have been quoting it non-stop. Wish I had part of it on here, but I don't... After dinner we went in limos downtown to see some of the Christmas lights and then ended up at the Pabst Theater to watch A Christmas Carol. It was awesome! By the time that was over it was about 11:30 and we drove back to church and had dessert. It was a great night and I think everybody really enjoyed it.

Then Steve had a crazy day on Sunday after being up until 2 Sat. night, but God is good, and He gave him strength! Monday Sarah Corbin (Brackett) came to visit me and we had a great time catching up! The day went so fast and she was such an encouragement and a blessing to me! Then Tuesday Heston and Kelli Frey came down to fly out of the Milwaukee airport and spent the afternoon with us. It was great to be able to see them and hang out just like old times!

Now we are just waiting for Christmas to get here! At least I am! This season has gone so fast, but I am really looking forward to Christmas day. Our little family of three will be together for Christmas so I am looking forward to it! I don't think it will be lonely, but we have been in PA with all our family for pretty much every Christmas in the past, so we'll see. I'm sure Haven's going to love the wrapping paper! Well, I guess I am just going on and on and on! OH, Haven is officially crawling now. She is not crawling fast which I am thankful for, but she's getting where she needs to go. Well, that's about all for now. I'm so thankful to be able to celebrate Christmas and realize how underserving I am of what Christ did for me! God's love is so unmistakably displayed in the sacrifice of His Son for our sins! What an amazing God we have! Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and take time to reflect on the miracle of Christmas!

Haven's new things this week are spitting and throwing! The spitting is especially fun when were trying to feed her her baby food! She loves throwing her toys and other things- the camera, remotes, etc. ! I think she is working on teeth because she has been unusually crabby this week. She's still working on crawling. She can get herself from her tummy to a sitting position and she can move backwards. She just doesn't know how to go forward yet. It is an adventure and every day is fun and tiring. It feels like the last 3 weeks have been 1 week! There is just so much going on right now - not to mention trying to do Christmas shopping! But this time of year is a lot of fun and it is well worth it! We are looking forward to seeing some friends from Northland next week on Monday and Tuesday. Sarah Brackett Corbin is coming to see me on Monday, and Heston and Kelli Frey are stopping to see us on Tuesday before they fly home for Christmas! We are enjoying high forties and low fifties right now which is a big change from the icy cold teens we had just about a week ago! I'm not complaining! That's about all for now! Haven's actually in bed early so I'm going to hang out with Steve for a while! :)

First Snow!

Well, God has continued to be good to us through the past couple of weeks. Our Dodge stopped running so we were without it for about a week and a half, but just yesterday a mechanic in our church fixed it for us for free! It was the steering! What a blessing he was! So, Steve will keep driving it till it dies! We are looking forward to Christmas and are loving this time of year as we celebrate our Savior's birth. It seems so hard, though, to keep that the focus of Christmas with all the shopping and decorating and eating, etc.! But I pray God will not let us get distracted from the true meaning! We are looking forward to our church's Christmas banquet this Friday, the Contata this Sunday night (which Steve is singing and playing the drums in!), and then our teen Christmas banquet next Saturday, which is a big dress-up, go all out occasion! These next few weeks are very busy especially for Steve, but He has taken off the week after New Years, so we are hoping to go home to PA for that week! We are praying that God will provide the money for plane tickets, since that will be cheaper and easier than driving!

We had a great time this Thanksgiving with our family coming down from Northland- Van, Loretta, Ben, Nate, and Josh, and Chrissy and her boyfriend, Justin. The guys had fun playing football in the morning and the girls had fun making the meal and then watching everyone devour it in 15 minutes! It was very good, though, and greta to be with family on a beautiful 60 degree day!

Haven and daddy!

Well, the past couple of weeks have been very busy but very fun. We just took a group to visit BJU and had a great time. It was great to be able to see some friends I hadn't seen in a long time, Kristen and Melissa, who were both in our wedding. It was also great to be able to get to know this group of teens a little better. The 15 hour ride there and back provided a good opportunity for that! Haven was a great baby on the trip and I am so thankful that God gave us safety! We also acquired a new vehicle this week, a white, Oldsmobile Silhouette van! We didn't know how we were going to be able to afford a new (used) car, but a family in the church said we could buy this van from them on a payment plan and it would only be $1700. Then, just today Steve called me and told me that someone had paid for the van in full for us! What a blessing! God is so good! Especially as our other car is on the blink. Now we are looking forward to Thanksgiving and family coming: my brother and sister-in-law, Van and Loretta, and their three boys, Ben, Nate, and Josh as well as my sister, Chrissy, and her boyfriend, Justin! So it will be a fun family time! I am looking forward to the relaxing day that Thanksgiving usually is! Hopefully cooking the meal will go off without a hitch and everything will taste good! Well, I better go! Haven needs some mommy time!

Haven in the laundry basket! What a cutie!

Well, this past week has been very busy and crazy! It ended with a Junior High sleepover at our house on Friday night. Steve found another place to stay of course. :) The girls and I had a good time although they were completely different than the Senior High. Four of them stayed up all night! I got about 3 hours of sleep, but I am almost completely recovered. That next day was weird, though. I was just a zombie! Then Steve had a teen activity where they went to a Bucks game on Saturday night. They had a good time at that, I stayed home with Haven. This week we are very busy with many different things. I went out with some girls for coffee yesterday, then went to a wedding shower tonight. Tomorrow we have youth group, then Thursday I have a thing in the morning at Panera bread with women from the church, then a counseling session in the afternoon. Then Friday and Saturday is the prophecy conference! So, needless to say, we are trucking right along! Today was Steve's day off so we used it to run errands and get as much done as we could! It was a beautiful day, about 55 degrees at least! God is so good! I'm thankful for this warm weather before the cold long winter months! God has really shown Himself to me lately. I'm sad to say that with the move and all the changes my focus had really gotten off of God and I had just been really distracted. But, God has used the past 4 messages to just work on me and show me that I need Him more than anything! He is keeping me dependent on Him by giving me things that are too hard for me! I know I cannot do it in my own strength. So, I thank Him and praise Him for His work in my life and for not giving up on me. What a Good God He IS! Well, it is getting late and I better get to bed. Good night to all, and remember what an awesome God we have who loves despite the fact that He knows everything about us!

What a sweetheart!
Well, this week has been full of excitement and hard work, but it has paid off! Steve and I decided to bite the bullet and paint our living room before it got too cold. To do that we had to take down the curtain rods that were holding our curtains which means we needed to get new curtain rods and curtains. Well, after the second color we painted we were very happy and the curtains are up and everything looks great! Praise the Lord! Haven also started liking her baby food this week! She gobbles it down- except for the peas, so that is wonderful! So, we are very tired, but excited about our improvements. Tonight we are headed to a youth group hayride/ fall party. Hopefully, it doesn't snow! That's all for now, gotta go, Haven's crying!

Here are some updated pictures of Haven as well as some pictures of our new house! Steve and I and Haven are doing well, very busy, enjoying our new life and role as Youth Pastor and Youth Pastor's wife (and baby). Haven definitely makes us more popular with her outgoing, people-loving personality. She is a talker and a smiler! She is such a blessing. We have seen God do some amazing things already! He has provided new furniture for our house at a fraction of what it would normally cost! HE is so Good!Please continue to pray for us as we depend on God for strength and wisdom. He has shown Himself so faithful.

Wow! I can't believe it has almost been six months since Haven came into our world! It has been a crazy, wonderful time, especially lately. Our family just moved to Milwaukee, WI at the end of August. Steve took a youth Pastor position at Brookside Baptist Church in Brookfield, WI, where Dr. Sam Horn is the Pastor. We are loving it down here! It is quite a change from the North Woods of Dunbar, and we miss our friends and family up there, but we are loving the more urban life down here, the church family, and the teens. God has been so good,and He has provided a wonderful, beautiful house for us to live in. We have been busy painting and making it our home! Steve has jumped right into the ministry and been super busy with activities and just the day to day life of ministry. It is an exciting and awesome adjustment and God is giving us strength and wisdom for each day! Here are some updated pictures of Haven and our new home and youth group, etc.

Haven Faith Sauers was born Sunday, March 19, around 7:39 p.m. Haven weighs 7 pounds 7 ounces and is 19 inches long. Proud parents Ruth and Steve are doing well!
